Comments: For 3 years I put off having DBS done because of my fear of brain surgery. Every time I saw my movement disorder specialist he would bring it up as I was quickly running out of medication to help with my tremors. At this time I was taking 4 medications, some as many as 9 pills per day! Finally I agreed that I had had enough and went to my first evaluation with Dr. Friedman. After visiting with him, learning the pros and cons and details of the surgeries and feeling totally comfortable in his hands, I agreed to go ahead with the DBS.
I have never regretted it! Dr. Friedman took excellent care of me. From beginning to end I never felt rushed,no question was silly and my recovery was as important to Dr. Friedman and his staff as it was to me. My recovery was virtually painless. If I had to do DBS again for some unknown reason, I wouldn’t hesitate, especially if Dr. Friedman was the surgeon.
